Description
Service Shopify integrations: ERP, CRM, shipping and accounting
A Shopify integration moves orders, stock, customers and payments between the store and the systems that run the rest of the business. Several vendors, including Shiprocket, Razorpay and Zoho, publish their own Shopify connectors, and those should be tried first. WavX configures them, and builds a custom integration where the connector's rules do not match how the business works.
Discuss a Shopify requirement Last updated 2 October 2026
Configure the vendor's connector, or build one
Most systems an Indian store needs already have some route into Shopify. The table shows the route each vendor documents as of October 2026, and where a custom build takes over. It describes the options; it is not a record of past WavX projects.
System
What the vendor provides
When a custom integration is needed
Shiprocket
The "Shiprocket: eCommerce Shipping" app on the Shopify App Store, with a free plan listed. It brings Shopify orders into Shiprocket for shipping across its courier partners
Your own courier-allocation rules, split shipments across warehouses, or delivery status flowing on into a CRM or ERP. See Shopify and Shiprocket
Razorpay
A payment app for Shopify covering UPI, cards, wallets and netbanking. Razorpay's documentation lists Route and Subscriptions as not supported through it
Settlement and refund data flowing into accounts; anything involving split payments or recurring billing. See Razorpay integration
Zoho Inventory
A built-in Shopify integration: Shopify orders sync into Zoho Inventory, and stock is pushed back to Shopify as one total across warehouses
Per-location stock, or item mapping that does not follow matching SKUs
Zoho CRM
A Shopify extension: customers appear as leads or contacts, orders as sales orders, abandoned checkouts as deals
Custom pipelines, scoring or fields the extension does not map. See Zoho CRM integration
Tally
No hosted API. TallyPrime answers XML (and JSON) requests over HTTP on the machine where it runs, port 9000 in Tally's documentation
Almost always custom or a third-party connector: voucher mapping, GST ledgers, and a way to reach the office computer. See Shopify to Tally
A custom ERP or warehouse system
Whatever API it exposes
Always custom
WavX does both kinds of work. Where the vendor's connector fits, setting it up properly is a small job: the right sync direction, SKU matching, tax mapping and a test with real orders. Where it does not fit, WavX builds the integration as a custom app that the merchant owns.
One point on payments: India is not on Shopify's list of countries where Shopify Payments is available, so an Indian store's gateway is always a third-party integration.
What merchants ask for, and how each is done
Request
Direction
How it is built
Every paid order becomes a sales voucher in Tally, with GST split correctly
Shopify to Tally
Order webhook to a connector that posts the voucher to TallyPrime; ledgers and tax rates mapped once
Stock in the ERP or warehouse system is the truth; Shopify follows it
ERP to Shopify
Scheduled job reads stock and updates Shopify inventory through the Admin API; bulk operations for large catalogues
Tracking number and courier appear on the Shopify order
Courier to Shopify
The aggregator's app, or a webhook from the courier written to the order's fulfilment
New customers and orders appear in the CRM
Shopify to CRM
The CRM's extension if one exists; otherwise webhooks to the CRM's API
COD remittance and gateway settlements matched to orders
Courier and gateway to accounts
Scheduled import of settlement reports, matched on order number, with exceptions listed for a person to review
A GST invoice PDF for each order
Shopify to invoicing
An App Store invoicing app, or the ERP generates it once the order arrives
Abandoned checkout or order updates on WhatsApp
Shopify to WhatsApp
An App Store app, or webhooks to the WhatsApp Business API
Alert the team when stock is low or an order looks unusual
Shopify to chat or email
Shopify Flow, with no custom code. Flow is free on Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus; its "Send HTTP request" action is on Grow and above
Cash on delivery deserves its own line in any accounting integration. Shopify treats COD as a manual payment method and marks those orders unpaid until someone marks them paid. An integration that posts every order to accounts as paid will be wrong for every COD order.
How a custom Shopify integration works
A custom integration is a small server application registered as a custom app on the store. Three parts matter.
Events in. Shopify sends a webhook when an order is created, paid, fulfilled or cancelled. Shopify's rules for receivers, as of October 2026:
The receiver must respond within five seconds, so it acknowledges first and does the work afterwards from a queue.
A failed delivery is retried up to eight times over four hours. If failures persist, Shopify removes the subscription.
Each delivery carries a signature to verify and an ID to detect duplicates.
Ordering is not promised, within a topic or across topics for the same order.
Data out. The integration reads and writes through the GraphQL Admin API. Shopify has classed the REST Admin API as legacy since 1 October 2024, so new integrations are built on GraphQL. The Shopify Admin API page covers it in detail.
Reconciliation. Because any single event can be lost, a scheduled job compares the two systems, for example every order from the last day against what reached the ERP, and repairs or reports the difference. This is the part cheap integrations leave out, and it is the usual reason behind orders not syncing to Tally or an ERP .
Limits that shape the design
Limit
Figure, as of October 2026
Consequence
GraphQL Admin API rate
100 points per second on standard plans, 200 on Advanced, 1,000 on Plus, per app and store
A full-catalogue stock update has to be paced or batched
Single query cost
1,000 points at most, on any plan
Large reads are split or run as bulk operations
Bulk operations
Results arrive as a JSONL file; from API version 2026-01 an app can run up to five bulk queries per store at once
Suited to nightly catalogue and order exports
API versions
A new version every quarter; each supported for at least twelve months
The integration needs an update at least once a year
Access tokens for apps in your own organisation
Issued through the client credentials grant and valid for 24 hours
The integration must refresh its token; the app and store must belong to the same Shopify organisation
Customer details
Shopify's help centre says custom apps with access to level 2 customer data (name, address, phone, email) need the Grow plan or higher
On Basic, confirm this before commissioning an integration that needs customer details
On the other side, the limit is usually the other system. Tally has to be running and reachable for a voucher to post, so the connector must hold orders and retry when the office computer is off.
Decisions that determine reliability
One system owns each fact. Stock, price, customer record, order status: for each, name the system that is right when two disagree. Two-way sync of the same field without an owner produces loops and overwrites.
SKUs match exactly. Nearly every mapping keys on SKU. Cleaning them is unglamorous and comes first.
Every write can be repeated safely. If the same order arrives twice, the second attempt must find the first and stop.
Failures go somewhere a person looks. A list of orders that did not post, with the reason, sent to someone who can act.
Taxes are mapped once and tested with real invoices. HSN codes, GST rates, shipping charges, discounts and round-off, checked against what the accountant expects.
When the vendor's connector is the right answer
Its rules match yours. If Zoho Inventory's "one total stock figure" is how you work, there is nothing to build.
Volume is modest and exceptions are rare. Someone can fix the odd mismatch by hand.
You are still choosing the other system. Do not build a custom integration to software you may replace this year.
The need is a notification. Shopify Flow covers a lot of "tell someone when X happens" without code.
A custom integration is worth quoting when the connector's assumptions force manual re-entry every day, when two or more systems must agree on stock, or when the accounts team is reconciling by spreadsheet each month.
Cost
A Shopify integration is quoted after scoping, per data flow. For planning, WavX's software cost estimator lists third-party integrations at ₹60,000 as one line inside a larger build. That is a planning figure, not a quote, and a standalone connector to an ERP carries its own hosting, monitoring and mapping work on top. Setting up a vendor's existing connector is a much smaller job.
Integrations for systems beyond the store are covered under API and system integration services.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a custom integration, or will an app do?
Try the vendor's own connector first. Shiprocket, Razorpay and Zoho each publish one for Shopify. A custom integration is needed when the connector cannot follow your rules, for example how orders become vouchers, which warehouse ships what, or which system holds the true stock figure.
Can Shopify be connected to Tally?
Yes. TallyPrime accepts requests over HTTP in XML, and also supports JSON, so orders can be posted as vouchers and stock read back. Tally normally runs on a computer in your office, so the integration needs a small connector that can reach it, or a third-party connector product.
How does a custom Shopify integration stay in sync?
Shopify sends a webhook when something changes, and the integration writes that change to the other system. Because a webhook can fail, arrive twice or arrive out of order, a scheduled job also compares the two systems and corrects any difference.
Does my Shopify plan affect integrations?
Yes, in two ways. The Admin API rate limit is 100 points per second on standard plans, 200 on Advanced and 1,000 on Plus. And Shopify's help centre says a store must be on Grow or higher for custom apps that access customer name, address, phone and email.
How much does a Shopify ERP integration cost?
It is quoted after scoping. As a planning figure, our software cost estimator lists third-party integrations at ₹60,000 as one line inside a larger build. A standalone connector between Shopify and an ERP has its own hosting, monitoring and mapping work, so its price depends on the number of data flows.
Who owns the integration and the accounts it runs on?
You do. The Shopify app is created in your organisation, the server runs in a cloud account in your company's name, and the source code is handed over.
