Where the figures come from
Every rupee figure in this calculator is one WavX has already published. The ₹50,000 starting figure for a business website is the one on the web development page. The ₹40,000 for a custom-coded landing page comes from the landing page design cost guide . The ₹1,50,000 for a store with up to 100 products comes from the website development cost guide and the e-commerce website cost guide . A web application uses the same base, scale and feature figures as the Software Cost Estimator , so both tools return the same rupee range for the same choices.
Those guides print more than one figure for some builds, because they also describe templates and website builders. Where they differ, the calculator follows the web development page, and for landing pages and stores it uses the custom-built figure, not the template one. The cost methodology page explains how the wider cost model works and what it cannot tell you.
How the range is calculated
The arithmetic is the same as in the other WavX calculators:
subtotal = (base + extra pages + features) × scale × design level
planning range = subtotal × 0.85 to subtotal × 1.25
Base. The starting figure for the type of site.
Extra pages. Business websites only. The base covers 5 pages and each further page adds ₹10,000 , the lower end of the per-page figure in the cost guide.
Features. Each one adds a fixed amount. Where the guide gives a range for an add-on, the calculator uses the lower figure.
Scale. Web applications only: × 1 , × 1.3 or × 1.7 .
Design level. × 1 standard, × 1.25 custom UI/UX, × 1.5 premium.
Because add-ons use the lower published figure, read the result as a starting range. Integrations, content that is not ready and extra page layouts move a real quote up. The timeline band is keyed to the subtotal: 3–6 weeks under ₹3,00,000 , 6–10 weeks under ₹6,00,000 and 10–16 weeks above that .
What the calculator leaves out
Layouts, which matter more than pages. The cost guide is clear that the number of distinct page layouts drives cost far more than the page count. A large site built on a few layouts will come in under the per-page figure.
Stores with more than 100 products. WavX has not published a figure for larger catalogues, so the calculator does not offer one.
Running costs. Domain, hosting, payment gateway fees and maintenance are separate. WavX publishes 15% to 25% of build cost per year as its maintenance planning band .
Tax. Figures exclude GST.
Speed on small sites. The timeline band is the cost model's general band for a build of that size. The web development page says a standard business website can go live in about a week, so for a small site the band is conservative.
When these figures are the wrong ones
If the site only needs to exist and be found by name, a template or a website builder costs less than anything shown here, and the cost guide says so plainly. If you are building a marketplace, a portal or anything with accounts and transactions, it is software: price it with the Software Cost Estimator. For a campaign page, see landing page development . For a figure WavX will stand behind, ask for an estimate . Quotes follow a conversation about scope, as the pricing page explains.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a website cost in India?
As a planning range from the WavX cost model: a custom-coded landing page starts around ₹40,000, a 5-page business website around ₹50,000, an e-commerce store with up to 100 products around ₹1,50,000, and a custom web application around ₹4,50,000 before features. The calculator shows a range from 15% below to 25% above your subtotal.
Is the result a quote?
No. It is a planning range built from starting figures WavX has already published. A quote is written after a conversation about your scope, and it can be higher or lower than the range.
Why does the price rise with every page?
The base covers 5 pages and each further page adds ₹10,000. That is a simplification. A page that reuses an existing layout costs far less than one that needs its own design, so for a large site treat the figure as an upper bound.
